of time, you’ve probably collected a ton of materials. Books, CDs, DVDs, MP3s, ebooks and Lord knows how much else. Some of it you’ve probably finished and gotten a lot out of. Some of it you probably never started. Some of it probably was terrible even.

In my own articles and blog posts, I have talked about what an opportunity is, where it is, getting ready for opportunity, your frame of reference and reinforcing new beliefs just to name a few. These were designed to get you out of old habits and to start recreating how you see the world.

This is absolutely, 100% key to actually DOING something about all these opportunities out there. Think about where you were before you started working on your own self-development and doing (you are doing, right?) what was suggested in the materials. Has your attitude and mindset changed? Do you see things differently? Do you notice things you didn’t notice before? Do you see yourself in a different light?

In short, do you SEE and BELIEVE the possibilities?

This is critical to moving on to the next phase of self-development. You see, you probably have the theory and mindset stuff down now, but it doesn’t, and never will, mean squat unless you take action. This is where most people stumble with self-help programs. They get the theory and ideas but have absolutely NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH THEM!

Not here. Not on my watch. And not if I can help it. This is WAY too important to leave to Chance. When you leave your fortune to Chance, Chance will take it every time. There’s a lot to do to make sure you don’t leave your future under the control of something else.

If you haven’t done so in a while, I offer this as a kind of status check. List your core Beliefs. Core Beliefs are those things you hold as absolutely True with a capital “T”. These are things that guide your life and your actions. You don’t have to list a specific number, just the ones that you know/believe are true. Do they empower you? The areas to look at are:

  • Yourself
  • Family (them and your relationship with them)
  • People
  • Justice
  • Faith
  • Your Country
  • Your Future
  • Your Past
  • Your Limitations (external and internal)
  • Your Potential (current and undeveloped)

If your Core Beliefs aren’t empowering you, it’s time to re-examine them and why you believe them to be true. Beliefs can be changed, even the ones you believe to be True. If you need to replace some beliefs, ask yourself what belief you could replace a disempowering belief with that would empower you?

That’s key. You have to replace the belief. If you don’t, there’s a vacuum; and nature abhors a vacuum. Your mind will replace that belief on its own with one that is similar. Or it will bring that belief back. So, what will empower you instead of that disempowering belief?

Reinforce that new belief with visualizations and other mental techniques to back it up. Write about that new belief in your journal. Describe what your life will be like under the new belief. Keep using the imaging techniques to see yourself with these new beliefs. Keep reading them every day.
